Maggie's Pokémon Cards Box
The box has a veneered top cover and bottom panel, using a simple dowelled pin hinge for the top cover. A sliding tray using traditional joinery and miniature dovetails to provide a storage area for his daughter Maggie's Pokémon cards.
English Walnut is used for the box sides, Ripple Sycamore for the tray and veneer for the top. These are placed in a circular pattern which reflects the various grain patterns. Cherry veneer is used for the bottom and a motif inlay and some sand scorching has been used to produce the palm tree design.
The intent of the box is to allow Maggie to have a meaningful keepsake of Colum’s time away from the family, a reminder for her that time is short and she should make the most of life.
