Sarah's Writing Table
This is the first project that inspired Colum through the simplicity of the table’s form. Colum captured a variation in its design and shape, the legs are shaped and turned off square, providing a varying volume under the table, which is usually the opposite, being slender and narrow. This volume adds to the character of the piece especially when placed next to the curved top. The table’s top curves perfectly to form an organic shape where one can sit comfortably to write and is also reminiscent of the shape of the sandspit at Rossbeigh beach.
A simple traditional dovetailed drawer sized to fit A3 papers and can be accessed from the side whilst writing. This is concealed in the front view by the curved table rails, adding an element of surprise to the piece.
