Teesie's Tray
Through the restoration of this stunning Brown Oak tray Colum was able to revive the legacy of Teesie, the Great Grandmother of one of Colum’s close family members. The tray dates back to the 1800’s and is inscribed with a sentimental note to Teesie. This was a perfect project for Colum to express his passion for functional fine woodworking and furniture making, whilst providing a piece that can be passed down through generations, preserving a family’s story within the grain, shape and finishing.
Colum stripped the tray of its original French polish and lacquer paint, revealing a beautiful Brown Oak with rich earthy tones and elegant ripples in the grain. He carefully added missing dowels to the handles and finished with hard wax Osmo Oil. The tray was restored back to its former glory and ready to proudly serve breakfast from on Christmas Day.
